Installation Instructions

Important Notes: (Please read carefully before installation.)

1. System Requirements

ASP.NET Maker

• Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Server 2003

ASP.NET Maker requires the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) and Microsoft Jet 4.0 database engine. You already have these components if your system is running Windows 2000 (or later) or have Access 2000 (or later) installed. However, it is recommended that you download the latest version:

• Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8
  
• Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 (SP8)

ASP.NET Maker also requires a few other system files. If you do not have latest version of these files (usually Windows 98 users), you may experience ActiveX errors while running ASP.NET Maker. To update your system, go the Microsoft download pages listed below. If you are not already using IE 6.0 or later, it is recommended to install it first as it includes most if not all of the required files.

• Microsoft Internet Explorer
  
• Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe)
  
• Microsoft Windows Script 5.6
• MSXML Parser 3.0
• DCOM98 for Windows 98, version 1.3 (Windows 98 only)

If you test the ASP.NET 2.0 scripts on your computer, .NET Framework 2.0 is also required.

Server

• Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003
• .NET Framework 2.0

2. Installation

Important: Before you install ASP.NET Maker, you must be logged in as a user with administrative privileges. It is recommended that you turn off all antivirus or security softwares. (You can turn them back on after successful installation.)

Double-click on the downloaded executable to start the installation process. Follow the prompts and change the settings whenever necessary.

Before installing new version of ASP.NET Maker, always uninstall previous version first.

Note: ASP.NET Maker 3, however, can co-exists with ASP.NET Maker 1.x. If you have ASP.NET Maker 1.x, you do not need to uninstall it first. ASP.NET Maker 3 is designed for ASP.NET 2.0 while ASP.NET Maker 1.x is for ASP.NET 1.0 or 1.1.
