Q.What is the system requirements to run ASP.NET Report Maker?
A. Please read the system requirements section in the download page.

Q.I use Windows Vista/7/8, I cannot register with the provided license key.
A. To register, administrator permission is required. Right click the icon that you use to run the program, and then click Run as administrator. When you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the administrator password, or click Continue to run the program. Then register again.

Q.Does ASP.NET Report Maker support VB?
A. Yes, ASP.NET Report Maker supports both C# and VB. (The generated source for precompilation to project DLL is in C# only.)

Q.Does ASP.NET Report Maker support ASP.NET Web Forms applications?

A. No. ASP.NET Report Maker does not use ASP.NET Web Forms.

Q.Does ASP.NET Report Maker support ASP.NET MVC applications?
A. No. ASP.NET Report Maker uses ASP.NET Web Pages (Razor).

Q.Does ASP.NET Report Maker work with ASP.NET 1.0/1.1/2.0/3.0/3.5?
A. No, ASP.NET Report Maker works with ASP.NET 4.0 or later.

Q.Can ASP.NET Report Maker scripts be editable with Visual Studio?
A. Yes, just click [File] -> [Open Web Site...] in Visual Studio 2013 (or later), then select your application root folder.

Q.How can I debug the ASP.NET Report Maker generated scripts?
A. Please use Visual Studio 2012 (or later).

Q.Can ASP.NET Report Maker scripts be editable with WebMatrix?
A. Yes, just click [Open Site] -> [Folder as Site] in WebMatrix 3, then select your application root folder.

Q.How do I connect to SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL with ASP.NET Report Maker?
A. Please install the required database driver first, read system requirements section in the download page.

Q.Can I use template from previous major version with latest major version of ASP.NET Report Maker? Or vice versa?
A. No. The template for each major version of ASP.NET Report Maker will be modified to offer new features. Old templates for previous major versions cannot be used with new major version of ASP.NET Maker.

Q.What is the difference between ASP Report Maker and ASP.NET Report Maker?
A. Feature-wise the two products are similar but they are for different technologies - Classic ASP and ASP.NET. Classic ASP is much easier to learn and code while ASP.NET is relatively more complicated to code but it is much more powerful. You can google for "ASP vs. ASP.NET" and will get a comprehensive list of comparison of the two technologies.

Q.HTTP 500 - Internal server error
A. The HTTP 500 error is a generic error message that Internet Explorer passes out to you when your web site errors for one reason or another. To enable Internet Explorer to show the error, select Internet Options from the Tools menu at the top of Internet Explorer, select the Advanced tab, uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages" checkbox. Then run your script again to see a more useful error message.
